Visual Testing (VT) is the first step of any nondestructive test. Visual testing is the observation of a test object, either directly by looking at it or indirectly by using optical instruments, to evaluate the presence of surface anomalies and the object's conformance to a specification.
Many aids and tools can be used to enhance the ability to visually inspect a part such as illumination, mirrors, magnification, gages and borescopes, All these tools are used by 3angles when visual testing is required as part of the inspection procedure.
A rigid borescope is used to perform visual inspections on turbine rotor bores as part of the boresonics inspection program. We also use video scopes for remote visual inspections.
